Higgo welded it up, milled it back and cut a brand new key way in it. It was all done within a week, packed up and posted back - all for under $200.

When I say 'rebirthing' I mean trying to remove all the Asian crap from when it went through 'restoration' before being imported and to fix the things that could have killed me!!UPDATE: Some of the abominations inside the engine have been hair raising too...*gulps*....no wonder it wasn't running right! It's been an adventure so far, follow it all here...Chapter 2 just added! Chapter 3-Coming Soon! 
Also check my blog for the latest stories from scooterists who have saved their Asian Imports....there is hope folks! If you've been told by your local motorbike shop that it's not worth the work, we advise you check it out with us 1st, Sadly they've all been 'tarred with the same brush' and most won't touch them as soon as you mutter the words 'Asian Imported Vespa'. My experience (and others -see my blog) tells me some are worth saving.
Some are complete buckets of poo as well, passed off as something they are not! :(
